Lesson:
Based on professional scriptwriting methods Richard unlocks the secret script structures many Hollywood films use.

Students will watch the short film Troll Busters, then Richard will break down the film into 10 key plot points known as BEATs.

Workshop:
The workshop will allow students to modify the 10 BEATs into their own creative film idea.

Students will learn:

  1. How BEATs of a movie work.
  2. How to analyse a story structure.
  3. 10 BEATs to make a solid structure.
  4. How to write a story structure.

With over 10 years experience Richard works as a VFX Artist/Director. He has worked on a wide range of highend commercials and feature films including Happy Feet 1 & 2, The Great Gatsby, Prometheus and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Richard has worked in many of Australia’s top film and animation studios including Sydney’s Animal Logic. He also worked for and with Australia's most awarded film director George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) for six years.
